Sean Foley was annoyed, borderline outright furious when he woke up and found that his son had still not made it home. He turned on the television to stay awake long enough to perhaps catch Richie sneaking in when he saw Static and Gear in a battle against a group that called themselves the ‘Meta-Breed’. He’d had a wakeup call a few years ago that painting a people group by the same brush was unwise at best. The report ended and the broadcast turned to an infomercial, so Sean started flipping through channels. He didn’t know how long he had been surfing before he heard the front door opening, slowly as if the person opening it was attempting to be as quiet as possible. He was marginally successful. Virgil sighed as he dragged himself into the house. It was late but the next day was Saturday so he could nurse his new injuries in the peace of his own home rather than trying to navigate school while hurting this bad. The door is gently removed from his hand, and he looks up to see his father standing there. Virgil didn't resist when Robert grabbed him and helped him into the house. Robert had seen the breaking news report and saw the battle Static had gotten into with the meta breed. He knew his son would be injured and in pain when he got home so, instead of going to bed he waited up for Virgil to arrive. If he couldn't keep his son out of the fights he could at least be there to tend to him after. He wasn't sure how much time passed between the report and Virgil dragging himself into the house exhausted and injured. It had felt like hours but when Robert looked at the clock later it would have actually only been about an hour and a half. "Pops…" Virgil said his voice tight

The beast growled as he sensed Adonis nearby, in his territory. He got up ready to fight this invader, ready to protect those that were his or at least draw the threat away so they could regroup and help with the fight. He didn’t know which yet, but he had to do something. “Beast Boy…” He jerked at the feminine voice that called for him, for Beast Boy. Beast Boy would never say it, but he loved her and to the beast she was his most of all. Her scream rang in his ears, and he ran for her, but he wasn’t fast enough, the other beast had her. That was unacceptable, she was HIS nobody touches her and gets away with it. The beast tracked Adonis through the sewer system, not accepting the idea that anything bad could happen to her. He was livid when he found them, Adonis over her dazed form about to rip the clothing from her body, about to use her in the most primal way without her consent. He tackled the other beast away grappling with him as his beloved succumbs to unconsciousness nearby

(POV: Raven) Did it have to be me did I have to be the one with the darkness that just won't leave her alone. Each time I see my friends laughing and smiling I wonder what is it like to be that free to be able to express every emotion let out the laughter or the tears without fear of the consequences. I guess I am different for a reason I just don't know they say I should be happy to be me to be alive but they never walked a mile in my shoes, they have never seen the world through my eyes. They can say what they like but none of it matters it's not like a few words are going to suddenly make my powers let me show how I feel He doesn't know… my heart is in tatters but I have to keep up the front that I am not hurting that there is no secret affection. It was a quiet night in Jump City but for the teen titans the battle raged. Robin launched an attack with his staff but was quickly thrown back landing in an effortless three point stance cursing like a sailor. Raven watched Robin to make sure he didn’t need help before launching an attack of her own to no avail. She was swatted away like a pesky fly and Robin lost track of exactly where she landed or how hard that landing was. ~*~ Meanwhile Amanda, Madison and Mason Roth were a few blocks down the road. They had spent months tracing the rumor that their aunt Angela Roth had a daughter. They suspected that daughter was Raven of the teen titans after seeing clear images of her sans hood. She looked too much like their aunt that had left the family so many years ago for it to be mere coincidence but they had to know for sure.
